Several mouse clicks make it possible to bypass the blockage of Charter'97.
Civil activist Dzianis Kazakevich posted this on Facebook:
"Having blocked the Charter'97 website, the regime clearly stated its intentions to turn Belarus into an IT dictatorship of the Chinese type. Now it depends on the Belarusian society whether the country will go along this path.If you care about the fate and security of Belarus, install applications on your computer to bypass the blocking of Internet sites.
For two decades of Lukashism we saw a lot: closing down newspapers, killing politicians and journalists, the broken lives of people who wanted to change something. Any employee may be dismissed within a year on absolutely legal grounds. Not surprisingly, millions of Belarusians prefer to read opposition websites and resent in their kitchens, instead of actively protesting. However, there will come a day when these millions come out into the streets, having overcome the fear. This is how it happened during the Arab spring; this is how it was in the late eighties in the USSR and, in particular, in the BSSR.
Drawing conclusions from the spring protests of 2017 and taking into account the experience of the Chinese comrades, the regime took a course on the dictatorship of the 21st century: attracting Western investments, developing the IT sector and total control over the Internet. In such a model, there is no place for independent websites, like Charter'97. Further, rigid (self) censorship and total control of social networks will follow.
The aged, overburdened and, apparently, fully out of his mind dictator wants to remain in power in any way , not caring that thereby he undermines the security in the region. The censorship of the Internet in Belarus is reinforced by the influence of the Kremlin propaganda. As a result, Belarus can turn into a Russian province. The risks of the Belarusian soldiers going to die for the "Russian world" in Latvia, Ukraine or elsewhere are multiplying.
It is significant that Charter'97 was blocked on the eve of the arrival to Minsk of the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn. Thus, the regime consciously positions Belarus as an authoritative IT-country, in which there is a park of high technologies, and censorship on the Internet, like China or Kazakhstan. Belarus, however, is not a huge China and not resource-rich Kazakhstan. Here, such "elegant" techniques will not work.
At a crucial moment, the Belarusian opposition united. Vital Rymasheuski, Yury Hubarevich, Mikalai Statkevich, Anatol Liabedzka, Uladzimir Niakliaeu, Henadz Fiadynich signed up for Charter under Natallia Radzina's appeal to European Commissioner Hahn .g
Today, one does not need to be a politician to resist the dictatorship's attack on independent media. Install applications to bypass the blocking of Internet sites on your computer . Help your relatives and friendsto do this. These simple actions will destroy the psychopathic plans to turn Belarus into an IT dictatorship ruled by the kolkhoz chairman," - Dzianis Kazakevich wrote.
