Charter97.org provides an example of principled journalism.
Mikalai Statkevich, one of the leaders of the Belarusian National Congress, congratulated Charter97.org on its 20th anniversary.
To Charter-97 editor-in-chief Natallia Radzina
Dear Natallia!
I congratulate you and all the staff of Charter-97 on the 20th anniversary of your website!
Charter has made a great contribution to the cause of truth, freedom and independence of Belarus. You were and, despite the illegal blocking of the site by the dictatorship, you remain an important part of the information resistance to the criminal puppet regime.
Your courage and honesty serve as a model and an example of principled journalism for the rest of your colleagues, for the entire Belarusian society.
It is certainly felt against the background of the compromising position of the majority of independent media that have learned, along of fear and desire to survive, to ignore and circumvent the obvious and shameful legal fact: Belarus is the only European country taken under illegal control by an organized criminal group led by a former president.
I call the citizens of Belarus for solidarity and support of Charter. I am sure that the principles and ideals, which Charter fights for, will inevitably win in our country.
Happy holiday to you!
Up with Charter!
Long live Belarus!
It will be recalled that on September 3 editor-in-chief of Charter-97 Natallia Radzina announced the threat to informational resource cause by drastic reduction in financing and called readers for solidarity. Ways to support the website:
