57 Arrested In Amsterdam After Attack On Israeli Football Fans

New footage and details have emerged.

Police in Amsterdam have arrested 57 people after a large-scale attack on Israeli football fans at the Ajax vs. Maccabi match, in which at least ten people were injured, Reuters reported on Friday, November 8.

According to Dutch police, pro-Palestinian protesters were trying to reach the Johan Cruyff Stadium, even though the city had banned them from protesting there.

Videos have appeared online showing crowds running through the streets and brutally beating men. Some of the attackers were wearing masks, shouting “Free Palestine” and forcing Israelis to repeat after them.

The footage shows the victims being left lying on the ground after the attack. Footage has also appeared online of passports that were allegedly stolen from Israelis.

A total of about ten Israeli citizens are known to have been injured. Three more people are still missing, the Dutch Foreign Ministry said, the Times of Israel reports.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered two rescue planes to be sent immediately to Amsterdam after an “extremely violent incident” targeting Israeli citizens.

Israel’s National Security Ministry has urged residents of the Dutch city to remain in their hotel rooms following the attacks.

The attacks on Israeli citizens took place after a soccer match in which Ajax Amsterdam, traditionally considered a Jewish club, beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 5-0. Police said fans left the stadium calmly, but clashes broke out in the city overnight.
