The transfer of power in the US is happening gradually.
The administration of US President Joe Biden may change its position on strikes deep into Russia with long-range weapons. The next few weeks may be decisive.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the MP, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on National Security and Defense of the Verkhovna Rada Yehor Chernev on the air of the telethon.
He noted that the conditional fuse for “abrupt” political steps was the elections in the US.
“Now the elections have passed, I do not rule out that there will be a change in position in the Biden administration's cabinet. Moreover, he has nothing to lose. He has two months left before the transfer of power,” Chernev said.
However, the Ukrainian MP emphasized that the transfer of power in the US is not happening on the last day of Biden's term, but gradually. Since representatives of the Donald Trump administration are already entering, there may be certain restrictions on decision-making.
“Although the closer to the inauguration, the more restrictions there will be. But for now, Biden's cabinet definitely has freedom of action. I think that the next few weeks should be decisive, indicative of how the Biden administration will act. Well, and in principle, Trump's positions on Ukraine issues, including, will be clear,” the MP noted.
Chernev added that Trump's attitude can be seen from statements, proposals, public speeches, until the Republican takes office.
