‘The Koreans Are Being Finished Off By Their Own People, There Are Such Facts’

Zelensky spoke about the heavy losses among the DPRK soldiers and addressed China.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his evening address on December 27 that North Korean soldiers fighting on the side of the Russian Federation are suffering heavy losses. According to him, they are being “finished off by their own people” so as not to allow them to surrender. The politician called on China to influence the neighboring DPRK on this issue.

Zelensky spoke about what was discussed at the meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters, where the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky reported on the situation at the front.

Thus, the most tense situation is in the Donetsk region, as well as in the Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Kharkiv regions. The President of Ukraine was also dedicated to the “details of the situation” in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, where North Korean troops are participating in the fighting.

“They have had a lot of losses. A lot. And we see that the Russian military and North Korean guards are not interested in the survival of these Koreans at all. They do everything so that it is impossible for us to capture the Koreans — their own people finish them off, there are such facts. And the Russians send them into assaults so that they have a minimum of protection,” the President of Ukraine added.

He said that the Ukrainians managed to capture several North Korean soldiers, but they were so seriously wounded that it was not possible to save their lives.

“This is one of the manifestations of madness that dictatorships are capable of. The Korean people should not lose their people in battles in Europe. And this can be influenced, in particular, by Korea's neighbors, in particular China. If China is sincere in its statements that the war should not expand, appropriate influence on Pyongyang is necessary,” Zelensky emphasized.
