The poem “Chto Ty Hetki?” (“Who are you?”) was recognized as “extremist material”.
Yanka Kupala's poem “Chto Ty Hetki?” (“Who are you?”) was added to the Republican list of extremist materials, human rights activists from the Viasna HRC noted.
They drew attention to the fact that a number of compositions were added to the list in January. In particular, the video clip and lyrics of the song “Nie być skotam” (“Not to Be a Beast”) by the group Lyapis Trubetskoy were considered “extremist”. The lyrics to the song is actually the poem by the classic of Belarusian literature Yanka Kupala “Chto Ty Hetki?” (“Who are you?”). It was first published on February 1, 1908 in the Nasha Niva newspaper.
The lyrics, video clips and derivative works of the songs “Nie žadaju” (“I Don’t Want To”), “Lukashenka” and “Ukhodi” (“Go Away”) were also added to the “extremist list”.
All of them were declared “extremist” by the decision of the Barysau District “court” on January 26, 2024.
Earlier, the “courts” in Belarus recognized the two-volume work of another classic, Vincent Dunin-Martsinkevich, as “extremist,” but then overturned this decision.
