However, there are exceptions.

Military and civil servants in Ukraine have been banned from using Telegram on their official devices. But there are exceptions.

This is reported by the National Security and Defence Council.

‘The National coordination centre of cybersecurity (NCCC) has decided to limit the use of Telegram in public authorities, military formations, at the objects of critical infrastructure,’ stated the message.’, - stated in the message.

Representatives of the Defence Forces who took part in the meeting noted that Telegram is actively used by the enemy for cyberattacks, spreading phishing and malware, setting users' geolocation, coordinating missile strikes, etc.

‘In order to minimise these threats, it was decided to ban the installation and use of Telegram on official devices of employees of state authorities, military personnel, security and defence sector employees, as well as enterprises - operators of critical infrastructure,’ the participants added.

Only those individuals for whom the use of this messenger is part of official duties will be excluded.

‘I have always been and still am in favour of freedom of speech, but the Telegram issue is not a matter of freedom of speech, it is a matter of national security,’ Main Intelligence Directorate head Kyrylo Budanov said during the meeting.
