This is the second outage in the Russian segment of the Internet in the last 10 days.
Russian users have complained about a major internet outage. Websites and apps for stores and banks are not loading, according to Downdetector data. There are also problems accessing Telegram, TikTok, Google, YouTube, Steam and Twitch, The Moscow Times writes.
In addition, subscribers are reporting problems with Russian mobile operators. The Internet is not working for Beeline, Megafon, T2. The monitoring service Sboy.rf also crashed. After some time, it started working. Judging by its data, users are having the most trouble accessing popular resources.
Roskomnadzor said that they do not know why the RuNet crashed. “Failures are being recorded for all operators, the cause is being determined,” a representative of the regulator told the Mash Telegram channel. The infrastructure of top-level domains .RU and.РФ and Russian DNS are working normally. “We do not see any failure in our, so to speak, part,” said Andrey Vorobyov, director of the domain coordination center.
Rostelecom emphasized that problems with access to Internet resources in Russia are not related to the company's networks. Beeline made a similar statement, noting that the failures “occur for reasons beyond the company's control”. T2 reported the same. MTS representatives declined to comment.
Roskomnadzor later reported that there was a “short-term disruption in connectivity”, noting that the Network's operation was “promptly restored by emergency services”. At the same time, the regulator found it difficult to explain why the failure did not affect services such as VKontakte — the social network belongs to the VK holding company, whose head is the son of the first deputy head of the Russian presidential administration, Vladimir Kiriyenko.
This is already the second failure in the Russian segment of the Internet in the last 10 days.
