Well-Known Oncologist Being Tried For ‘Politics’ In Minsk
ALENA SHARAFANOVICH

Alena Sharafanovich is one of the best pediatric oncologists in Belarus.

On January 30, 2025, the trial of Alena Sharafanovich will begin in the Pershamaiski District Court of Minsk. She is one of the best pediatric oncologists in Belarus. It is impossible to find a single negative review about her from patients in medical chats and communities. On the contrary, grateful people pass her name on to each other, writes Nasha Niva.

“This is a doctor with the talent from God. She cured my son when everyone said that there was no other treatment. Thank you very much.” “Sharafanovich is a very good specialist. If you had contacted her earlier, you would have been helped.” “Yes, to her, there are many good reviews about her!!!”. “My wife sent me to her. She said: super doctor. I did not believe her and was skeptical. But it turned out that this was true.”

Alena Sharafanovich is charged under the “people's” article 342 of the Criminal Code — participation in protests.

The doctor will be tried by the deputy chairperson of the Pershamaiski District Court, Natallia Dziadkova. Over the past year alone, she has convicted two dozen people for participating in protests. And several more in other “political” cases.

Alena Sharafanovich graduated from the Minsk Medical Institute (2001) and postgraduate study at the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education in the specialty “oncology” (2019). She has completed advanced training courses six times, and completed internships in Germany and the USA.

She worked for 13 years at the Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology in Barauliany, and another three years at the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Pediatric Surgery. At the same time, she was seeing patients at Lada, the HappyDerm Laser Dermatology Center.

In 2022, Alena Sharafanovich, who was the director of the private A1 Clinic, found herself at the center of a scandal. One of the co-founders of the medical center wrote complaints about his own clinic because he fought with another co-founder, Ruslan Sharafanovich, Alena's husband. As a result, A1's license was revoked, and work was paralyzed. And one of the employees wrote a denunciation against Alena, claiming she was “distributing extremist materials”. She was tried and fined. The clinic soon closed.

According to Viasna, Ruslan Sharafanovich was also tried in a criminal case for participating in protests. It is unknown how the trial ended.
