Tehran has significantly accelerated uranium enrichment to 60 per cent.
Today Iran has 200 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% without impurities. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said this at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Reuters reports.
‘Iran currently has almost 200kg of uranium enriched to 60 per cent impurity-free, and this is close to the required 90 per cent for weapons production level,’ the director general said.
This amount of nuclear material, if further enriched, could potentially be sufficient to make five nuclear warheads.
Grossi noted that Iran has recently significantly accelerated uranium enrichment to the 60 per cent level, increasing the rate of production sevenfold.
