The dictator could be crushed.
Security analyst Rainer Saks believes that Russia could replace Lukashenka. He expressed this opinion in an interview with err.ee:
“Lukashenka looked very nervous. Firstly, because Russia used his territory to attack Ukraine. True, this has not happened for the last two years. However, at that time, Lukashenka was afraid that the war could spread to the territory of Belarus,” Saks said.
According to Sachs, Lukashenka is stuck in the caterpillar chain of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, and the risk of being crushed remains.
“Since the Russian president is now so busy with the war in Ukraine, the solution of the “Belarusian issue” from the point of view of Russian interests has been postponed for the future. This means that replacing Lukashenka is not being considered,” Saks added.
