The Regime Turned Out To Be Fragile

Belarusians will turn the page with Lukashenka.
Yes, Belarusians now have somewhat different problems and moods than four and a half years ago. This is a natural reaction of society to endless repressions and a war next door. Tyranny seeks to create the impression that this is “forever”. But no.
Aliaksandr Lukashenka, speaking to foreign journalists, drew a parallel between himself and Leonid Brezhnev. When it seemed that “this is forever”, it was in the USSR in the late seventies and early eighties.
But it turned out that the regime, which outwardly looked unshakably strong, in reality turned out to be quite fragile. And neither the “Andropovshchina” nor Gorbachev's reforms saved the Soviet Union, which lasted for seventy-odd years and ended in a record-breakingly short time from a historical point of view.
The current heirs of the same, both in Russia and in Belarus, are only imitators. And the campaign for Lukashenka's “elections”, designed to demonstrate how the people “united around the leader in a single impulse”, showed rather a lack of enthusiasm in society for supporting the “irreplaceable”.
Therefore, it is not time to be sad. Everything is not as good, but not as bad as it may seem. Ultimately, it is not Lukashenka who will turn the page, but the page with Lukashenka will be turned. But what will happen on the next one depends on each of us.
