They were shipped at the end of December 2024.
After the ban on importing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Russia to the European Union was introduced at the end of 2024, Kazakhstan's gas took a hit as well. Hundreds of railway tank cars with liquefied gas, shipped in late December last year, can't cross the Belarusian-Polish border.
As reported by the telegram channel of ‘Oil and Gas of Kazakhstan. Facts and Comments,' at the end of last week, more than 100 tank cars produced by Tengizchevroil LLP are standing at the stations Brest-Tsentralny, Brest-Uskhodni and Baranavichy-Tsentralny. The reason for the delay was the requirements of Polish customs, which asked for additional documents confirming the Kazakhstani origin of the goods.
The image of Kazakhstan as a country that helps circumvent EU sanctions has had a negative impact on the situation. The EU customs authorities are concerned that Russian gas may be re-exported under the guise of Kazakhstani LPG.
