The dictator is guilty of crimes against humanity.
On January 26, Belarus "once again held an organized event to reappoint" Lukashenka, which cannot be called "either an election or anything else that would resemble democratic procedures and institutions," Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys told reporters on January 27 in Brussels before a meeting of EU foreign ministers.
The official called for not forgetting that "Belarus played its role in Russia's illegal aggression against Ukraine, and Belarus and its leadership must also bear responsibility for this."
"We call on our European friends, EU member states, to support Lithuania's referral of cases of crimes against humanity to the International Criminal Court, this is the right decision," he said, apparently referring to the materials on "cross-border crimes against humanity committed by Lukashenka and his accomplices against Belarusians" handed over by the Lithuanian government on September 30, 2024.
