They did not accept a parcel with medicines for the political prisoner.
Political prisoner Mikalai Autukhovich turned 62 on January 7. The political prisoner's relatives hope that he celebrated this day in his regular cell, and not in solitary confinement, where he was before the New Year, Radio Svaboda reports.
A source familiar with the political prisoner's affairs concludes from his last letter that Mikalai Autukhovich was once again punished with solitary confinement.
"I have already returned from the sanatorium, everything is fine. Take care of your health, do not worry about me. Spiritually, I am ready for any trials, I can handle everything. This is my path, given to me by God, and I will go through it," wrote Mikalai Autukhovich and congratulated his relatives on the New Year and Christmas.
Mikalai's letter was written on December 22, but arrived recently. This is not the first time that Avtukhovich has referred to the punishment cell using the word 'sanatorium'.
The source notes that Mikalai Autukhovich does not complain, but finds the strength to encourage others.
"I can only convey my strength of spirit to you through moral support, which is what I am trying to do. Don't be sad, smile!" Mikalai Autukhovich addresses his relatives.
According to the source, in December, the relatives sent the political prisoner a medical parcel, but it did not reach the addressee and was returned. Recently, the relatives sent Avtukhovich a new parcel with medications. According to the political prisoner, his legs have begun to swell due to illness, and he needs special medications.
Mikalai Autukhovich is placed in punishment cell from time to time, and the reasons for this punishment remain unknown. In November 2024, the political prisoner told his family that he spent 21 days in a punishment cell, where he was only occasionally given medical care. According to Autukhovich, it was very cold in his cell, and the heating was only repaired towards the end of his sentence. The political prisoner also reported that his tonometer was taken away, although he had permission to use this device to measure his blood pressure. After that stint in a punishment cell, Mikalai Autukhovich sent a message to the outside world that 'if something happens to me, it was done on purpose."
Let us recall that on October 17, 2022, the Hrodna Regional Court announced the verdict in the Avtukhovich case, in which 12 people were involved. The court hearings were held in Hrodna Prison No. 1.
Mikalai Autukhovich was sentenced to 25 years in a maximum security prison.
