Weapons from Iran and the DPRK were stored there.
Powerful explosions thundered on the territory of the 51st arsenal of the GRAU in the Vladimir region of the Russian Federation. Detonation and fires are still ongoing there. The fire has already spread to the forest. At least 90% of the arsenal may be completely destroyed. This was stated by a lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the call sign "Alex".
According to satellite images, the fire has literally engulfed the entire territory of the arsenal - about 45 premises.
"There may be certain errors, but there is a dense fire inside, so only a few premises located on the edges have survived. Secondly, watching the video, we see that the fire has already spread to the forest located around the arsenal. Moreover, the fire is not local outside, but we see a clear column of fire that is moving further," he wrote.
"Alex" is not sure whether the arsenal was filled "to the brim", because the enemy also has problems with ammunition. At the same time, it is important to note that this arsenal is one of the closest to Moscow. The lieutenant claims that it was there that aid from Iran and the DPRK could be redirected.
"If it was at least half full, that would be very good, but it is not only the quantity that matters here, but also the content," the lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine wrote.
Explosions at the 51st arsenal of the Russian Federation - what is known
On April 22, explosions thundered at a military arsenal in the Vladimir region of the Russian Federation. Drones attacked the 51st arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Local residents there were left without windows and now also hear the whistle of detonating missiles.
The 51st arsenal of the GRAU is one of the largest ammunition depots of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Interestingly, this facility was among the recipients of military cargo transported from Belarus to Russia.
Head of the Central Dispatch Center under the National Security and Defense Council Andriy Kovalenko told what was stored in the huge arsenal of the Russian Federation. It stores approximately 105 thousand tons of weapons, including Iskander, Tochka-U, Kinzhal missiles; ammunition for the Pantsir-S1, S-300, S-400, Grad, Smerch, and Uragan systems.
