Not Just Crimea: EU Rejects US On Another Issue On Ukraine

Last week, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the US framework program proposed to him by US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in Paris was received with enthusiasm.
However, according to Reuters sources, among the US proposals was "recognition of Russia's illegal annexation of the Crimea - a step that does not suit Europe and Ukraine."
"In addition to the Crimea, other important stumbling blocks remain, including Russia's demand to lift EU sanctions against it before the negotiations are completed, which Europe categorically objects to," the publication states.
Ukraine meeting in London
On April 23, an important meeting of representatives of Ukraine, Great Britain, the United States, France and Germany was to take place in London to discuss ways to resolve the war. It was assumed that the key issue would be a complete ceasefire.
Ukrainians were led by the head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa.
Literally 24 hours before the summit, it became known that the United States was planning to present its own peace initiative in London. In particular, it proposed freezing the contact line on the front, Ukraine's refusal to join NATO and recognition of Crimea as Russian.
In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine would not recognize any captured territories as part of the Russian Federation, thereby abandoning the US plan.
At the moment, it is known that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will not take part in the meeting in London. At the same time, as RBC-Ukraine has learned, the Ukrainian delegation is heading to a meeting in the capital of Britain.
