Explosion Takes Place In Military Laboratory On Outskirts Of Bucharest

A woman was killed in an explosion at a weapons and ammunition testing laboratory on the outskirts of Bucharest on 29 April.
The information was confirmed by the Ministry of National Defence of Romania, writes ‘European Truth’.
According to the Romanian Ministry of Defence, the explosion occurred on Tuesday morning when the 47-year-old technician, who had worked in the laboratory since 2019, ‘was carrying out a physical and chemical analysis of explosive and pyrotechnic materials’.
Emergency services were called, according to procedures. Emergency workers were able to extinguish the fire in about 35 minutes.
The incident is being investigated by the Bucharest Military Prosecutor's Office, as well as an internal commission of the Romanian Defence Ministry headed by the unit commander.
‘The leadership of the Ministry of National Defence expresses its condolences to the family of the deceased laboratory employee and supports them in this difficult time,’ the ministry said in a statement.
