A source said Zelensky told Trump that he was not afraid to make concessions to end the war, but that to do so, he needed reasonably reliable security guarantees.

A U.S. official said the White House was unimpressed with Putin's latest proposal for a three-day ceasefire to mark Victory Day in Russia on May 9.
The massive missile strike on Kiev on April 24, in which a North Korean-made missile killed at least 12 people, has clearly angered Trump.
"At the beginning of the process, Trump was very disappointed with Zelensky. Now it's switched to Putin," the US source said.
What is known about the preparations for the meeting
According to a mediaI source, nothing was decided in advance (about the meeting, - ed), and the initial idea was that they would try to meet after the funeral.
But then the leaders confronted each other on arrival. They found a place to meet privately at St. Peter's Cathedral.
Axios sources said that one possible reason this meeting between Trump and Zelensky was more positive was the absence of Vice President J.D. Vance and White House special envoy Steve Whitkoff.
