Trump Names Three Countries He Is Discussing Tariff Easing With

The US President believes that the new tariffs give “a lot of negotiating power.”

US President Donald Trump said that he is discussing easing the proposed tariffs with representatives of Vietnam, India, and Israel, CNN reports, citing a source familiar with the matter.

It is noted that Trump said that he is open to tariff negotiations.

“Every country has called us. That’s the beauty of what we do: we put ourselves in the driver’s seat. As long as they give us something good. For example, if we take TikTok as an example, we have a situation with TikTok where China will probably say, ‘We’ll approve the deal, but will you do anything about the tariffs?’ The tariffs give us a lot of negotiating power. They’ve always done that,” Trump told reporters.

Trump also said on his Truth Social network that he discussed the new tariffs with Vietnamese President To Lam, calling the conversation “very productive.”

“Vietnam wants to reduce their tariffs to zero if they can make a deal with the US. I thanked him on behalf of our country and said I look forward to seeing him in the near future,” the US president wrote.
