Problems With Potatoes And Onions In Belarus Were Joined By Difficulties With Another Popular Product

It is part of the traditional "borscht" set.

The Federation of Trade Unions told about the lack of goods, which Belarusians complain about in stores. "Among the main topics are questions about the quality and availability of some components of the so-called "borscht" set - potatoes, cabbage, onions," the trade unions specify. "Zerkalo" looked at the situation with white cabbage in delivery services - whether it is available and what about the prices.

The Federation of Trade Unions reported that in April they received more than 60 appeals from consumers from different regions. People mainly asked to improve the work of individual retail facilities. There were also questions about the quality and availability of some components of the "borscht" set - potatoes, cabbage, onions. "Separate appeals concerned the sale of goods with expired shelf life", - specify in the Federation.

Reportedly, in some cases after such complaints products were removed from sale. "Information about such cases was also passed on to the hygiene and epidemiology centers," the official unions note. - "On the issue of insufficient assortment of vegetables of the 'borscht' set, trade unions inform and work with the responsible state bodies to make the necessary decisions."

What's in stores with this product?

Belarusians previously reported problems with white cabbage not as actively as with potatoes or onions.

For example, E-delivery now has in stock only early white cabbage from Kazakhstan, its price is 2.78 rubles per kilogram. In delivery Green - also only early imported (country not specified), its price - 4.29 rubles per kilo. In Perekrestok stores, this product from Uzbekistan was also on sale, its price was up to 4.16 rubles per kilogram (but now it's out of stock).

We should remind that Belarusians have been complaining about the quality of this product in stores and its prices for several months. The problems started in February (although officials claim otherwise). The Ministry of Agriculture and MART insist that there are potatoes in stores and "there's no need to worry about the quality of the product. However, they discuss the problem at the highest level in their offices. Meanwhile, Belarusians began to complain about the quality and cost of potatoes in TikTok.
