Boeing 737-800 aircraft of S7 Airlines, flying from Novosibirsk to Irkutsk, was forced to return to the airport immediately after departure due to a technical malfunction, reports the West Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office. The incident occurred on May 18 at about 4 a.m. Minsk time, writes The Moscow Times.
There were 160 passengers on board. The vessel was suspended from flying after landing. A reserve board was allocated to fulfill the flight. The prosecutor's office has started checking the circumstances of the incident. According to the profile telegram channel Aviaincident, after takeoff, the crew reported the failure to retract the landing gear and decided to return to Tolmachevo airport, having previously exhausted the fuel.
At around 6 a.m. on May 17, another S7 plane with 150 passengers, traveling from Gorno-Altaisk to Moscow, made an emergency landing in Novosibirsk "for technical reasons," the prosecutor's office said. According to Aviatorshchina, after half an hour of flight at an altitude of 10,900 meters, the crew of the Airbus A320 reported to dispatchers about the failure of the left engine. As a result, the aircraft commander decided to land in Novosibirsk. The landing went safely, no one was injured. The vessel was also suspended from flights. The passengers were sent to Moscow on a reserve flight.
