Diplomats And Economists Commented On The Phone Conversation Between Trump And Putin

Peace is not expected anytime soon.

Some diplomats and experts say that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has "outplayed" US President Donald Trump.

This is reported by "Interfax-Ukraine".

So, former Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis is convinced that Trump will try to convince Ukraine to accept Putin's demands.

"Putin repeats the same ridiculous demands. And we are counting the minutes until the moment when Trump will try to convince Ukraine to accept them," Landsbergis wrote.

The former US ambassador to Ukraine and nuclear weapons expert Steven Pifer believes that during the conversation Putin "outplayed" Trump and "peace is not expected anytime soon."

"In other words, there is no Russian-Ukrainian ceasefire now. Putin can continue his war against Ukraine by delaying ceasefire talks and a final settlement. Putin appears to have outplayed Trump again, including by throwing up unrealistic prospects for large-scale trade," Pifer wrote.

Russian First Foreign Minister Andrey Kozyrev said after the talks that Putin "builds up Western leaders because it allows him and his allies to feel strong again."

KSE President and former Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture in 2019-2020 Timofei Milovanov noted that "Putin and Trump agreed to continue negotiations and nothing more."
