Russian Military Base Attacked In Syria

Russian military casualties are reported.

In Syria, once again there was an attack by locals on the Russian military base Hmeimim. There was an exchange of fire, as a result of which there are dead on both sides.

This was reported on May 20 by "Focus" with reference to the Russian telegram channel "Military Informant."

It is reported that there was a firefight between Russian servicemen stationed at the base and "Syrian militants."

"There was a firefight between Russian servicemen and Syrian militants near the Hmeimim airbase. There are reports of casualties among the Russian military and the destruction of the attackers," the report says.

"The Informer" writes that it is likely that the attempted attack was carried out by members of radical groups who never joined the new Syrian government after the seizure of power. Also one of the options for the attack on the airbase, is the possible pressure on the Russian authorities of the new Syrian government through direct armed attacks.
