Georgia Banned Belarusian Citizens From Re-exporting Cars And Special Equipment

The changes affect passenger cars, bulldozers, excavators, graders, and tractors.

Georgian authorities have banned the citizens of Belarus and Russia to re-export cars and special equipment through the territory of the country since May 15, reports bm.ge. Attention to the publication was drawn by "Pozirk".

Citing the Service Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, it is noted that the changes affect cars, bulldozers, excavators, graders, tractors.

It is specified that re-export of vehicles to Belarus and the Russian Federation was banned earlier, but citizens of these countries "could formalize the export of vehicles from Georgia to third countries."

Now this possibility is excluded.

"The Russian Federation connects the new restrictions with journalistic investigations, which reported that Georgia is used as a transit channel to circumvent sanctions. The Georgian government has repeatedly denied such publications, saying that the country complies with all restrictions," the publication says.

Georgia has banned re-export to Belarus and Russia of cars imported into its territory from the United States and Europe from August 1, 2023. It was noted that the decision was made in connection with "measures taken to comply with international sanctions."
