Officials want to enact changes on postal activities.
On May 20, a bill was approved by which officials want to introduce changes to postal activities. Among other things, they intend to launch a special database on postal items and provide law enforcers with round-the-clock access to it. Earlier, the bill was approved by the "parliament". Now the word is up to Alexander Lukashenko, who can either approve it or send it for revision.
The document provides for "the creation of a unified automated system of accounting and storage of data on the movement of mail. The officials also want to determine the owner and operator of this base, its users, the obligation to transfer information in the system and the order of access to it.
The bill stipulates that Belposhta should create and launch a special database of accounting and storage of data on the movement of postal items. It is planned to include information about parcels of customers.
Belpochta should "provide round-the-clock access to the system of accounting and data storage to the bodies, carrying out operational and investigative activities. Apparently, the point is to provide law enforcement agencies with 24/7 access to this database, so that they could get data from it at any time of the day.
"The list of subjects entitled to round-the-clock access, including remote access, to the system of accounting and data storage is expanded from among the state bodies, not carrying out operational and investigative activities, taking into account the right granted by the legislation to these state bodies to receive data from information resources and have access to them," explained earlier in the "Parliament. This includes the address data of their senders and addressees.
