The Republican had a productive meeting with the PRC ambassador.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham supported US President Donald Trump's peacekeeping efforts and warned China of consequences for supporting Vladimir Putin's war.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing Lindsey Graham's social media page X.
The senator noted that he had a "very good meeting" with Chinese Ambassador to the United States See Feng, during which they discussed a number of pressing global issues, particularly trade and the war between Ukraine and Russia.
The Chinese ambassador recalled that back at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Beijing took the position of achieving peace through dialog and Graham agreed with such a concept.
In response, the senator expressed hope that "the U.S. can establish a real dialog with China, which is sorely lacking in the case of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin."
He also emphasized that "the combination of a ceasefire with sincere negotiations, can lead to an honorable and just peace."
"The vast majority of the U.S. Senate believes that Putin is avoiding real negotiations because he believes that over time the U.S. and our allies will break down. That would be a serious mistake that could affect China and other countries that continue to support Putin's oil economy. President Trump is right: it's time to end this carnage," Graham noted.
