Porsche has registered two new names with the European Patent Office - Flachbau and Flachbau RS. The portal Autoblog suggests that they hint at the release of another special version of the 911 model. It will be a reference to a rare model from the 1980s.
In its time, some racing Porsche 935s received a so-called "flat nose" in favor of aerodynamics, on which the line of the wings coincided with the line of the hood. For road coupes 930 Turbo offered a similar design, replacing the standard headlights with retractable ones. In total, about 950 such cars were made.
Flachbau just means "flat nose" in German. In all likelihood, the limited edition Porsche 911 will receive a fundamentally new design of the front part of the body. It is unlikely that the headlights will be made retractable, but they can be "sunk" into the wings and covered, for example, with photochromic panels with variable light transmission.
The Porsche company is in the process of updating the 911 family, one of the results of which was a reduction in the number of modifications with manual transmission. However, the firm may change its mind. Manager of this direction Klenn Giebenhein explained that everything depends on market demands.
