Macron Discussed The War In Ukraine With Xi Jinping

According to him, France and China have the same goal with regard to the war.

French President Emmanuel Macron had a telephone conversation with Chinese leader Si Jinping. They discussed, among other things, Russia's war against Ukraine.

The French head of state said on social network X.

He said the talks touched on trade relations between France and China, as well as key international issues.

Macron said he reiterated France's desire to further build strong economic relations with China. He welcomed Chinese investment in his country.

The French leader said he agreed with his Chinese counterpart to move as quickly as possible on the issue of cognac, which is crucial for French producers.

"We have the same goal regarding the war Russia is waging in Ukraine: a lasting and reliable peace. It starts with an immediate and unconditional ceasefire," Macron added.

The French leader also emphasized the need to make progress towards a political solution that can ensure peace and security for all in the Middle East.

"We will work with China to prepare a conference on a two-state solution, scheduled for June in New York, where France will co-chair with Saudi Arabia," the French president said.
