Russian military officers in Kursk Region are accused of embezzlement and murder committed with particular cruelty, the Russian Investigative Committee is investigating the case. As Kommersant writes, according to the investigation, they joined a gang to commit crimes.
A total of five people are in the case. Court documents show that they are accused of banditry, murder committed by a group of persons with particular cruelty, and looting. It is known that one of the defendants in the investigation is serviceman Mikhail Osipov, who was arrested at the scene of the crime, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Kursk garrison military court.
The newspaper notes that the case of soldier Alexander Lisunov, who was arrested together with Osipov in the same place on charges of aiding and abetting the murder, but then sentenced under a special procedure due to a plea of guilty for concealing the crime, cites one of the episodes imputed to him:
"The military, in order to inflict suffering on their victim, fired at least seven bullets from an AK-74 into his legs and then finished him off with a shot to the head, the case says. In order to hide the traces of the crime, the body was lowered into the basement of a destroyed house, doused with fuel and set on fire."
In a conversation with Kommersant, one of the lawyers in the case said that the case involved a unit of stormtroopers involved in combat operations. According to him, the investigation accuses the servicemen of killing a fellow soldier with whom they had a conflict. At the same time, the defendants themselves say that they have dealt with the deserter. They deny robbery and robbery and claim that in abandoned buildings they took "small things" that could be useful for soldiers' everyday life.
