Two Russian Airplanes Violated Finnish Airspace

An investigation is underway.

Finland is investigating a possible violation of its airspace by two Russian warplanes.

The Finnish Defense Ministry announced this on the evening of May 23, writes "European Pravda".

The Finnish defense ministry said the country's airspace may have been violated near the southern city of Porvoo, 130 kilometers from the border with Russia, on Friday morning.

"We take the suspected border violation seriously and are investigating," Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkanen said.

This is yet another claim by Western nations that Russian planes have violated their airspace.

Last week, fighter jets flying NATO air policing missions in the Baltic states took to the air four times to identify and escort Russian planes that had violated flight rules.

The day before, Polish fighter jets intercepted a Russian Su-24 bomber in international airspace over the Baltic Sea.
