Macron: Trump Has Realized That Putin's 'peace' Promises Are Lies

The French leader called for "the longest possible ceasefire."

French President Emmanuel Macron believes his American counterpart Donald Trump has realized that Russian dictator Putin has been deceiving him, BFMTV reports.

On a tour of Southeast Asia, Macron called for the "preservation of rules-based order" in a global context of "serious imbalances." After all, he said, the war in Ukraine is "destabilizing Asia," not just Europe.

The French president also said he believes Trump has "realized" that Putin has "deceived" him.

-"I believe that President Trump has realized: when Putin told him he was ready for peace, he was lying," Macron emphasized, and called for "the longest possible ceasefire."

He stressed: "what is happening in Ukraine is unacceptable and extremely serious."

"You cannot declare readiness for negotiations and bomb at the same time. Such double rhetoric demonstrates the insincerity of any statements about dialog," Macron added.
