Sweden Has Allocated More Than $500 Mln To Ukraine

To strengthen defense capabilities.

Sweden has allocated SEK 4.8 billion (about $504 million) to Ukraine to strengthen its defense capabilities.

This is stated on the website of the country's Defense Ministry, writes "European Pravda".

It is noted that on May 22, the country's government decided to instruct the Swedish Armed Forces to make financial contributions to multilateral funds and initiatives aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.

The total amount of donations is about 4.8 billion Swedish kronor, and this support is part of the 19th aid package submitted this year.

The international community has established a number of multilateral funds and initiatives aimed at procuring materials and equipment to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities. Stockholm is contributing to several of them.

Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonson stressed that these funds will make the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Ukrainian defense industry "stronger in defense against Russia."

In particular, we are talking about contributions to several coalitions of capabilities within the Ramstein Contact Group on Ukraine's defense:

Mine Clearance Coalition: 100 million kroner (about $10.5 million). The money will finance the purchase of demining equipment.

Drone Coalition: 300 million kroner (about $31.5 million). Sweden will help fund the purchase of various types of drones.

Maritime Safety Coalition: 50 million kroner (about $5.2 million). The Swedish contribution will help fund the training of Ukrainian Navy personnel as part of Operation Intercharge.

Security and IT Management Systems Coalition: 30 million kroner (about $3.1 million). The funds will be used to purchase equipment for the Ukrainian Delta system.

The Swedish government has also agreed a further contribution to the "Danish model" of arms procurement. Stockholm has now decided to allocate more than SEK 1 billion (about $105 million) in additional funds.

In addition, the government has decided to allocate SEK 418 million (about $43.9 million) for the purchase of equipment for armored vehicles.

The government has also decided to support two multilateral ammunition procurement initiatives, particularly the Czech one. An additional 550 million SEK (about $57.7 million) will be allocated for this.

In addition, the government is allocating more than 1 billion SEK for the purchase of both air defense systems and long-range drones.
