Pyongyang is talking about nuclear war in space.
North Korea has criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to build the Golden Dome missile defense system, a shield designed to counter threats from rivals including Pyongyang.
North Korea reports Bloomberg.
The Korean Central Telegraphic Agency said Tuesday that the program "represents a nuclear war scenario in space that supports the U.S. strategy of unipolar domination." The agency filed the information citing a memorandum from an institute under the Foreign Ministry in Pyongyang.
The memorandum describes the U.S. program as "the pinnacle of complacency, arrogance, willful and arbitrary practices." It also adds that Washington "persistently seeks to militarize outer space, arguing that whoever dominates space can prevail in future warfare."
Last week, Trump promised that the Golden Dome should be operational by the end of his term. He said the system would be able to protect the U.S. from threats such as ballistic missiles, as well as hypersonic and cruise missiles. As Bloomberg writes, much of the technology around the system remains untested, especially plans for space-based interceptors to shoot down approaching ballistic missiles.
