EU's Patience With Hungary 'melting By The Day'

This was stated by the Minister for European Affairs in the German Foreign Ministry.

The Minister for European Affairs at the German Foreign Ministry, Günter Kriegbaum, said that European Union member states' patience with Hungary is waning due to longstanding violations of the rule of law, and more states are considering further steps.

His words were quoted by Tagesspiegel, reports "European Truth".

On the sidelines of the EU ministerial meeting in Brussels, Kriegbaum said that the patience of German colleagues is "melting with each passing day."

He noted that the procedure for disenfranchising Hungary had dragged on "for quite a long time" and it was time to think about how to get to the heart of the problem.

Kriegbaum emphasized that the new federal government would first try to hold direct talks with the government of Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"But we also have to say that any patience has limits," the German minister emphasized.

He also stressed that it is about the rights of EU citizens, which are "guaranteed by the treaties."
