Netanyahu Says Hamas Chief Mohammed Sinwar Has Been Eliminated

He was killed in an airstrike.

Israel has probably eliminated Hamas' Gaza ringleader Mohammed Sinwar, the younger brother of the group's leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed last year. This was announced by Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, the agency quoted Reuters as saying.

He said Sinwar died as a result of airstrike in early May.

"We eliminated Mohammed Deif, (Ismail) Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed Sinwar," Netanyahu said during a speech to Israel's parliament.

"In the past two days, we have made a sharp turnaround to completely defeat Hamas," he said, adding that Israel is also "taking control of food distribution," referring to the new aid distribution system in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas has yet to confirm the death of Sinwar Sr.
