White House Reacts To Court Decision To Block Trump's Import Duties

The President of the United States will not abandon the tariff policy.

The White House commented on the decision of the US Federal Court of International Trade to block tariffs on imports. This is reported by CNN.

White House spokesman Kush Desai said that other countries' non-reciprocal treatment of the U.S. has "fueled America's historic and persistent trade deficit."

He argued that this deficit has created "an emergency that has devastated American communities, left our workers unemployed and weakened our defense industrial base."

He said the court did not deny the enumerated facts.

Desai said "unelected judges" should not decide how to properly respond to a "national emergency."

"President (U.S. Donald - ed.) Trump has pledged to put America first, and the administration is committed to using every lever of executive power to address this crisis and restore American greatness," the White House spokesman added.

The US Federal Court of International Trade earlier unanimously ruled that President Donald Trump's sweeping tariffs on imports were illegal.
