Russian Federation Banned Putin's Moustache And Hitler's Bangs

A court in Omsk has banned a number of memes with the Russian dictator.

The Kirovsky district court in Omsk has ruled that twelve pages on websites with images comparing Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler and a number of other memes featuring the Russian dictator are banned in Russia.

This was brought to the attention of "The Verge".

In some cases, edited photos in which Putin has a mustache and a hairstyle like Hitler have been banned. In particular, images from the movie "Hitler kaput!" with Pavel Derevyanko, published on the same pages, were also banned because of this.

In other cases, the court banned photos containing the inscription "Putler kaput". Moreover, most of them were taken at protests and the inscriptions were put on the posters of the protesters. For example, the court banned a photo of blogger Ilya Varlamov, which shows a woman holding a poster reading "Putler, drink poison before you get lead".

The court also banned a page on the website Verses.ru, where an image with Putin holding a revolver to his head and the inscription "How to save Russia from disgrace" is posted, as well as a page in ZhZh, where an image stylized as the cover of the magazine "Krokodil" with a photo of Putin and the inscription "The court began consideration of the case on the merits. The creature stated that he is innocent."

The images were demanded to be banned by employees of the Omsk prosecutor's office. In their opinion, the images "negatively affect the interests of society and the state, encourage an indeterminate number of persons to commit terrorist activities, crimes and contribute to their commission".
