What does that mean?
Ukraine is connecting to the NATO aviation system. AFU aircraft will coordinate with allies through a digital interface.
This was revealed by Deputy Defense Minister for Digitalization Ekaterina Chernogorenko, according to RBC-Ukraine.
Ukraine has signed a license agreement to use NATO's software, the CRC System Interface (CSI).
The move will allow the Ukrainian Air Force to operate in a single digital system with the aviation of Alliance countries.
CSI is a part of the combat control system that works through the Link-16 protocol, known as NATO's "military Wi-Fi".
It is through this that information is exchanged between aircraft (particularly the F-16 and Mirage 2000), air and missile defense systems (Patriot) and other defense components.
The agreement was implemented thanks to the joint efforts of the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, the Air Force and international partners.
The program is used by almost all Alliance members, so its integration is the key to full interoperability of Ukrainian forces with partners.
"We are not just dreaming about joint operations with allies, but making it a reality," Chernohorenko wrote.
