The Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate (GID) shot down two Su-30 Flanker fighters using AIM-9 Sidewinder infrared-guided air-to-air missiles fired from Magura-7 unmanned boats. The crew of the first plane survived and was picked up in the Black Sea by a civilian vessel, the crew of the second, according to preliminary data, was killed.

Lieutenant General Kirill Budanov, head of the GSD, told the publication The War Zone. He said this is the first time fighter jets have been shot down by marine drones, and the first use of the AIM-9 from an unmanned boat to destroy an enemy.

"Magura-7 is an air defense variant of Magura-5," Budanov said, declining to elaborate on the difference between the two.

Budanov said the crew of the first Su-30 survived and was picked up in the Black Sea by a civilian vessel.

The crew of the second plane was killed, according to preliminary reports.
