What's happening on Belarus's border with the EU.
Intensified checks and detentions continue at the borders of Belarus with the European Union countries.
Journalists BGmedia have read what users of border telegram chats wrote last week and at the beginning of this week about phone checks and interrogations at the Belarusian border (spelling and punctuation of messages have been corrected with preservation of meaning, and some of them have been shortened).
Border chats note that "conversations" take place not only at the entrance to Belarus, but also at the exit. Two examples:
"Lida - Warsaw with a transfer in Marijampol [May 3]. At 11.25 we stopped by Belarusians. 8 people were taken for a conversation. At 15.10 we drove into neutral. At 15.15 we drove to Lithuanians. At 16.00 we left the Lithuanian border."
"Minsk - Vilnius, 04.05 at 11.00. At 13.30 we approached the border, there were no buses. At 14.37 we passed the passport office (someone had a long conversation with us, eventually we were dropped off). At 14.50 we went to Lithuanians. At 15.35, we leave for Vilnius.
The law enforcers mainly interrogate people at the entrance to Belarus. And you can get to the interrogation if you insolence to the border guards. Here's a story from the chat:
"Vilnius - Minsk, 03.05. At 16.00, we stopped at the passport office of Lithuanians, things are in the bus. At 16.46 we came to the RB. At 17.05 we passed the RB (we took 3 people for conversation). At 19.25 we left the border (one person did not go with us).
And you know, there are much more fools at the border than it seems. The driver before the border clearly said: to behave calmly, not to be impertinent, not to be rude to the border guards. But one girl started bickering with the border guards. At the end of the fight, the border guard said: "girl, why are you talking like that, do you want to talk?" and she said: "yes please."
Interrogations at the border of Belarus are organized every day. But they rarely write details in chat rooms:
"The bus left Warsaw at 07.00 [April 29]. We approached the Poles at 10.30. We came out only with passports. At the Belarusians also quickly passed, we are sitting in the bus, waiting for people from the conversation. I think it's great in terms of the time of passage. I wish everyone a successful trip."
"Vilnius - Minsk, 29.04. We enter Belarus, there are no buses. At 17.10 most of them passed the border, we are waiting for two people. At 18.35 one came back from interrogation, the second was taken off, it seems, for refusal to declare new equipment. The border is passed. P.S. If you are bringing something new and are not going to declare it, please throw out the boxes and bring it as used, don't make people wait."
"RP - RB [April 29], we left at 14.30. At 20.30 Polish control. At 21.30 we started to pass RB control. Now we are waiting for people from the conversation. The time is Polish everywhere."
"Vilnius - Minsk, 30.04. At 13.04 we entered the Republic of Belarus. At 13.40 with things to passport control + waiting for people from conversations. At 15.10 they let us go, we are leaving for Minsk."
"We left Vilnius at 09.00 [April 30]. We passed both the Lithuanian and Belarusian ones quickly. Only half an hour we waited for two people from the bus, they were taken for questioning. The border is empty."
"Bus Wroclaw - Pinsk, 01.05.25. At 17.45 we passed the Polish passport office. At 18.30 we entered the RB. At 20.40 we passed the passport office (we were waiting for people from the conversation). The time is Polish."
"Checking time in RB very often depends on the presence of citizens with "certain" passports and local citizens with "certain" articles in the buses and minibuses in front of you and in yours."
"RP - RB [May 2]. At 11.20 passed ours. At 13.53 we left, waited for a man from the conversation."
"Prague - Minsk [May 2]. At the moment we have passed the white customs. We are waiting for people from the conversation - and to Minsk)".
"RP - RB [May 2]. At 12.10 our passport check started. At 12.50 passport passport pass. We are standing and waiting for people from the conversation, two more buses are waiting in front of us. At 13.10 everyone passed."
"RP - RB, 03.05. At 20.25 we started to check documents at RP RB, 5 people for interviews. At 21.23 we left the checkpoint of the Republic of Belarus. Total: 4.5 hours to pass from barrier to barrier".
"LT - RB. Bus [May 04]. 02.45 - RB. Two windows. Several people taken away for an interview. No queue of passenger cars. Only 2 passed during this time. Exit at the last barrier of the RB at 04.10".
