The Polish politician is awaiting trial.

During a vote in Strasbourg, the European Parliament revoked the immunity of MEP Grzegorz Braun, who is a candidate in Poland's presidential election.

This is reported by RMF FM.

The investigation is being conducted by the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw in connection with Brown using a fire extinguisher to put out Hanukkah candles during celebrations in the Sejm in December 2023.

Brown's immunity in the case was previously revoked by the Polish parliament. Due to the fact that the politician received a mandate as an MEP in the June 2024 European Parliament elections, the prosecutor's office requested that the privilege protecting him from judicial liability also be revoked by the European Parliament.

The insulting of a group of people on religious grounds on the Sejm's premises is not the only accusation Brown has heard so far. We are also talking about an incident at the German Historical Institute, where he blocked a lecture on the Holocaust, and an incident at a Krakow court, from which he took out a Christmas tree installed there by the judges and then threw it in the trash.

Grzegorz Braun's excesses will not go unpunished, the Minister of Justice, Attorney General Adam Bodnar, assured last week.
