Carney In Meeting With Trump Says Canada Is Not For Sale

Canada's prime minister urged the U.S. to partner.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said in a meeting with US President Donald Trump that Canada is not for sale. To which the U.S. leader advised against avowals, Sky news reports.

At a White House press conference, reporters asked the Canadian prime minister about Trump's threats to make the country "the 51st state of the United States." He noted that "some places are never for sale."

"It's not for sale and it never will be. But the opportunity lies in partnerships and what we can build together," Carney said.

At the same time, Trump acknowledged that Canada is increasing its military involvement.

"But never say never," he concluded.
