Newly appointed German Chancellor Friedrich Mehr will visit neighboring France and Poland this week and hold meetings with EU and NATO leaders.
The German government's press office said this, DPA reports.
On May 7, the German chancellor will travel to Paris and Warsaw - Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has already announced his visit.
On Friday, May 9, Friedrich Merz is expected in Brussels, where he will meet with European Council President Antonio Costi and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
After that, the German chancellor is scheduled to meet with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the Alliance's headquarters in Brussels.
With his trip to Brussels, Merz wants to demonstrate his conviction "that Germany's future is inextricably linked to a strong and democratic European Union," the German government speaker said.
Reminder, the Bundestag on May 6 approved the appointment of Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the second attempt. After that he took the oath of office at the residence of the German president.
For a positive result for the first time lacked only six votes. At the same time, the Bundestag has 328 deputies from the Christian Democratic Union and the SPD.
