Russian Military-industrial Complex Under Attack: Details Of The AFU Drone Raid Have Emerged

UAVs also flew near Moscow.

On the night of May 7, Russia was attacked by drones. The objects of the aggressor country's military-industrial complex were in the crosshairs, there is information about several hits, "Obozrevatel" reported.

The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andrey Kovalenko noted in Telegram that UAVs flew to Mordovia and hit a fiber-optic systems plant in Saransk. According to Russian media and Internet resources, two facilities were damaged: Saranskkabel(54.225465, 45.191437) and Saranskkabel-Optika (54.225151, 45.195900).

The plant is a key element of Russia's military-industrial complex in the field of modern military communications. The companies manufacture fiber-optic cables (including for fiber-optic drones) and communication systems for the Russian army.

The plant, according to Kovalenko, is very seriously damaged.

"Fiber-optic cables are one of the advantages of the enemy at the front at the expense of fiber-optic drones. This plant fully provides the Russian army with fiber optics. Now there is a question of possible stopping its work," he believes.

The administration of Saransk canceled classes in kindergartens, schools, colleges and universities on May 7.

Drone activity in the Tula region was reported by the region's governor Dmitry Milyaev. At around 05:30 Wednesday, he wrote that air defense assets were repelling a fifth attack.

The Russian media did not report casualties or damage, but Kovalenko says the JSC Instrument Engineering Design Bureau was attacked. It specializes in the development of modern weapons systems, including anti-tank systems, small arms and combat modules.

Also targeted by drones in Tula was the Splav research and production association. It is a manufacturer of Grad, Smerch, Uragan and other multiple launch rocket systems.

"The enterprise has close ties with the Rostec concern and remains one of the priority weapons manufacturers for the Russian army," Kovalenko wrote.

It is known that the drones were shot down on the approach to Moscow. Local authorities claimed to have eliminated nine UAVs.

Telegram channel Exilenova+ claims that the drones attacked the Kubinka military airfield near Moscow, where fighter jets are based.

The Exilenova+ also believes that UAVs hit the USRF's 1st class strategic aviation airfield "Shaikovka" in the Moscow region.

Aircraft fuel tanks and a fuel depot caught fire. This could seriously affect the combat capability of the 52nd aviation regiment with Tu-22M3s stationed there, as well as call into question the use of aviation that is stationed there temporarily and was planned to participate in the May 9 parade in Moscow.
