Yesterday, the two leaders spoke on the phone.
During yesterday's phone call between the Ukrainian and US presidents, they discussed a mineral deal and a proposed 30-day ceasefire. Donald Trump was pleased with the conversation, White House Speaker Caroline Leavitt said at a briefing.
She said Vladimir Zelensky called Trump to inform him that the Ukrainian parliament had ratified the resource deal.
- I spoke to the president about the call, he said it was a very good and productive conversation. And, of course, the critical minerals deal is great for Ukraine, but also, of course, for the United States and our taxpayers. So it was a good conversation," the spokeswoman said.
Since Levitt mentioned that Trump and Zelensky had discussed a proposal for a 30-day cease-fire, a reporter asked if there was already Putin's reaction to the initiative.
- Not to my knowledge, no, but certainly if there is a reaction and an update, I'm sure you will hear about it directly from the president," she said.
When asked about a possible meeting between Trump and Putin next week, Levitt referred to an earlier response from the US president himself - "it's not going to happen.
