Baku issued a statement after Putin's aide's words.

Putin's aide Vladimir Medinsky called Nagorno-Karabakh a disputed territory and thus distorted facts, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

"We recommend Mr. Medinsky to refrain from damaging interstate relations by making such erroneous statements on issues beyond his authority," it said.

The ministry noted that Russia recognizes Azerbaijani sovereignty over the territory and also called it inappropriate to compare the Russian-Ukrainian war with "the situation that exists in Karabakh."

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's statement is related to Medinsky's interview with RT TV channel. In it, Putin's aide said that if the Russian-Ukrainian war is stopped along the front line and peace is not agreed upon, "it will be, this region will turn into a huge Karabakh."
