A cold front has brought snowfall, heavy rain and brisk winds to South Africa, causing power outages. Bad weather hit the eastern parts of the country earlier in the week.
In the Eastern Cape province, severe weather conditions caused a traffic accident that killed five people, local officials said.
In the winter months, from June to August, South Africa regularly experiences snowfall and temperatures dip below freezing.
The last time snow fell in South Africa was in September 2024. Then, due to a snowstorm in some regions of the country introduced an orange level of weather danger.
The snow blocked roads and damaged property of the population, and in some areas due to the weather lost cellular communication.
