Zelensky: Russia Plans To Destroy Odessa And Reach The Border With Moldova And Romania

This city is a target for Russia.

Troops of the aggressor country Russia have not given up hope of capturing Odessa and then reaching the borders with Romania and Moldova. This was stated by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on June 11, speaking at the Ukraine-Southeastern Europe Summit, which the Office of the President of Ukraine is broadcasting on YouTube.

"This city [Odessa] is a target for Russia, and Russia wants to destroy it, as it has already done with countless towns and villages in the occupied territories. Russian military plans point to this region - Odessa - and then [to] go to the border with Moldova and Romania," the Ukrainian president said.

Zelensky noted the need for protection from Ukraine's allies and long-term guarantees that "this will never happen." In particular, he spoke of "real tools for deterrence and rapid response," from air defense to protection against cyber threats.
