The Vice President of the United States called the billionaire.
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and White House Chief of Staff Susan Wiles called billionaire Ilon Musk and urged him to end his public spat with President Donald Trump. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources. The conversation took place on June 6.
During the conversation, US administration officials insisted on the need to reduce tensions between Mr. Musk and Mr. Trump. According to the WSJ, Vice President Vance sided with the American president in the conversation, but did not criticize the businessman either.
A telephone conversation between Messrs. Trump and Musk was previously planned to "make peace," but it never took place. The conflict began after Ilon Musk resigned as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He criticized the US draft budget signed by the president, calling it a "disgusting abomination". Donald Trump responded by threatening to cancel government contracts with the billionaire's companies. Today, Mr. Musk said he regrets some of his publications about the American leader.
